Kochi: Kochi corporation conducted a sample survey in Chullickal to check out the awareness and inclination of the ward residents to embrace the Union government’s solar city project. Kochi is one of the 60 Indian cities identified for the project.
The local body will implement the project in 2,000 houses in the ward through the Kochi Solar Cell set up for the purpose. The sample survey looked at the people’s interest in installing solar powered equipment in their homes and whether they were inclined to cut down energy consumption. The study found that only 50% people, most of them middle-income groups, are interested in switching to solar power.
