JSW Energy Ltd reported a flat consolidated net profit in the September quarter as lower costs and long-term customers offset a decline in power demand in the country due to covid-led disruptions.
The company clocked a net profit of ₹352 crore in the three months ended 30 September. Plant load factors (PLF) at its thermal plants fell compared to last year but the company controlled costs, especially of coal, and depended on its long-term power purchase agreements to keep profits stable.
“Despite overall power demand in the country declining by 0.9% year-on-year during the quarter, JSW Energy witnessed higher overall offtake by long-term customers, driving higher PLFs for all capacity under long-term power purchase agreements at our thermal power plants,” the company said in a statement.
