Jet Airways could fly again in 2021 with the consortium, which won the bids to revive the carrier, holding talks with the ministry of civil aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to reinstate airport slots and bilateral traffic rights of the airline.
The consortium of UAE-based businessman Murari Lal Jalan and London’s Kalrock Capital said they are awaiting NCLT and other regulatory approvals, including reinstatement of slots and bilateral traffic rights. The talks with the government have been “extremely positive”, they added.
The consortium in a statement said it wants to revive the airline, which had stopped flying in April 2019, as a full-service carrier and was also planning to launch dedicated freighter services once the carrier takes off the ground again.
