NEW DELHI: Come 2027 and budget airlines could be operating international flights apart from domestic trips from IGIA’s Terminal 1. Delhi International Airport Ltd is learnt to have begun talks with airlines to have an international wing at T1. Clarity on this is expected by this December. For years, IndiGo has been keen on having all its operations from T1 instead of from all the three terminals.
“There are some old buildings in the area between the upcoming expanded T1 (which will be ready this winter) and the runway closest to the Dwarka side. The old buildings are going to be handed over to DIAL by next March. The plan is to build the international wing of T1 in this area,” said a person aware of the developments in this regard. “Once the airlines clarify, we will issue tenders for the work.
