About 390 air polluting industrial units with natural gas infrastructure will need to convert to cleaner piped natural gas (PNG) or biomass fuel supply by September 30 in Ghaziabad district.
The officials of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) said that they have also issued a public notice in this regard and urged the industrial units to convert to cleaner fuel.
The directions were issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on February 4, and said that the earlier restriction, which was issued on December 15, has been relaxed. Earlier, industrial units were told to operate for five days a week but now they can function for all days, but such units need to switch to cleaner fuel by September 30.
