NEW DELHI: Indonesia’s Bara Daya Energi, which has prior record of failing to deliver on a Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) contract, on Thursday emerged as the lowest bidder in Coal India Ltd’s (CIL) two tenders valued at about Rs 9,000 crore for importing coal on behalf of power generating companies.
Sources said Bara Daya Energi quoted a price of Rs 4,331.7 crore for supplying 3 million tonnes of coal in the east coast ports against Rs 5,030 crore by Adani Enterprises. For delivering the same quantity in the west coast, Bara Daya quoted Rs 4,497 crore.
Last week, CIL had rejected the company during technical evaluation for another tender for importing 2.4 million tonne coal on grounds of inadequate paperwork.
