IndiGo on Friday confirmed that it is operating two flights from Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah to Delhi and Bengaluru respectively as a part of Operation Kaveri to bring back stranded citizens from war-torn Sudan. In a statement, the airline said that it is operating two flights on April 28 and April 30 which will bring back over 450 citizens, reported news agency ANI.
“The airline is operating these flights with A321 aircraft. IndiGo is closely liaising with the government to offer support for more such evacuation flights,” the airline’s statement added.
As the fighting between soldiers loyal to Sudanese army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy, paramilitary Rapid Support Soldiers (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, India launched ‘Operation Kaveri’ on April 24.
