IndiGo introduces fuel surcharge, flight tickets to get costlier by up to Rs 1,000

Indigo, India’s largest domestic airline on Thursday introduced fuel charges starting from Rs 300 up to Rs 1000 due to rising Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices on its domestic and international routes. The new pricing structure will come into effect from October 6.

“The decision follows the significant increase in ATF prices, which have surged in the last three months with consecutive price hikes every month. ATF accounts for a substantial portion of an airline’s operating expenses, necessitating fare adjustment to address such a cost surge,” said the airline in its statement.
