India’s first Rapid Rail train, known as RAPIDX, is set to be inaugurated next week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the first train on the 17-km priority corridor in Ghaziabad. Notably, the first train will be operated by women pilots, making it a historic moment for the country. The inauguration is scheduled during the holy Navratri celebration, which is dedicated to the worship of “shakti” (women).
The priority corridor between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot has been ready for commercial operation for the past 4-5 months. The NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), responsible for implementing the project between Delhi and Meerut, will also launch its mobile app “RAPIDX CONNECT” on this occasion. Additionally, the indigenously built platform screen corridor will be virtually launched. The NCRTC will showcase the upcoming Sarai Kale Khan terminus in Delhi, which will serve as the central station for all future Regional Rail Train System (RRTS) corridors connecting Panipat and Alwar.
