NEW DELHI: The government is upping its climate mitigation game with a bid to prepare an atlas of potential geological storage sites for captured carbon, a key component of energy transition and net-zero goals.
The government think-tank Niti Aayog, NETRA-NTPC and National Centre of Excellence in Carbon Capture & Utilisation (NCoE-CCU), IIT Bombay have launched a study to assess CO2 storage potential in select coal bed methane (CBM)-rich coal fields in the country.
The study is supposed to be completed in 12 months and lead to a CO2 storage atlas of select coalfields.
