NEW DELHI: A day after reportedly agreeing to step down as Jet Airways chairman, the airline’s founder Naresh Goyal told employees he is “prepared to make any sacrifice to ensure your future comfort and prosperity, viability of the airline and welfare of all employees.”
He told them the situation would “gently ease” by March 18. “I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that our Jet Airways not only survives but also thrives and dominates and remains the first choice of our Customers as before,” he told worried employees.
The first direct communication to employees after crisis engulfed Jet came on Friday, when the airline told BSE it has grounded two more aircraft “due to non-payment of amounts outstanding to lessors.” This was the third day in a row that such a communique was sent to BSE for grounding planes due to this very reason —seven on Wednesday, six on Thursday and two on Friday. In all, 21 planes have been grounded over non-payment to lessors.
