Installation of an Instrument Landing System (ILS) is now in progress at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSI) here to facilitate landing and takeoff of aircrafts during inclement weather, VSSI Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan has informed.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is augmenting advanced navigational facilities like ILS at the airport which would cost up to Rs 4 crore. A team from the AAI’s Corporate Headquarters visited the airport last month for site survey for the ILS. When the ILS is commissioned, the minima visibility requirement of flights would be further reduced, Chauhan has said.
