Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate, which has taken up the illegal coal trading probe, conducted searches at more than 12 locations in West Bengal, including the office and the residence of a businessman where the CBI raids searches a fortnight back.
The agency has also searched the Hooghly residence of two brothers who were connected to Anup Maji alias Lala — the key suspect in the coal racket.
On Monday morning, ED officials conducted raids at 12 places. By evening, more places were searched in connection to the case.
The state government had earlier lodged a case against the businessman in connection with illegal coal transport from Raniganj area. ED officials got hold of some documents crucial to the case in his office.
