Currently, the nation is fully dependent on China and South Korea to fulfil its exponentially growing demand for energy storage systems, secondary batteries and supercapacitors.
Keeping this in mind and to become self-reliant in this area, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee had established an energy storage laboratory which is the first of its kind in northern India.
This facility is used to develop prototype Li/Na-ion batteries and hybrid supercapacitors pouch cells. It will also provide adequate research training to the graduate and undergraduate students and sharpen their skills in this particular area for industrial development.
