The IIT-ISM is to set up a hydrogen extraction pilot plant in cooperation with IOC and other industrial associates as it has been identified as fuel of the future.
Institute director Prof Rajeev Shekhar while interacting with media here today said that a two tone coal gasification plant is to be set up at Nirsa on 67 acres of land provided by the state government.
The main motive is to extract hydrogen besides capturing carbon dioxide. The plant is to be based on coal gasification technology and the facility would help in future research on two issues, he said .
