BENGALURU: Researchers from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) have created a new smart scheduling model that could help reduce flight delays and congestion at airports.
Findings and details of the new model developed by IISc’s department of civil engineering and Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems (RBCCPS) and AAI, using Chennai International Airport as the experimental set up, have been published in the journal ‘Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board’.
In their paper, the researchers said: “Our proposed formulation addresses two key gaps in the existing departure metering strategies: first, the variability and effects of the standard instrument departure (SID) procedure and second, the prospect of enroute conflicts because of departure delays.”
