Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi has set in motion the process for installing a 2 MW solar plant on the campus.
Tenders have been invited for the project to be executed through the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), an autonomous institution functioning under the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The project would be carried out using the funding of Rs. 14.2 crore sanctioned by the Rural Electrification Corporation under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Director of IIMT Bhimaraya Metri said. Besides attaining self-sufficiency, the excess power generated would be transferred to the State grid, he said.
