NEW DELHI: Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have signed an MoU for facilitating hydrogen exchange between their refineries in Mumbai with a view to ensuring uninterrupted supply of the key ingredient and reducing hydrogen flaring.
Hydrogen is required for producing Bharat VI grade of diesel and petrol by hydro treating and hydro processing, respectively, of refinery streams. It is vital for reliable and safe refinery operations.
HPCL described the MoU as “one-of-a-kind” strategic partnership between two state-run fuel refiner-retailers “for mutual aid during emergencies and towards environmental impact by minimising valuable hydrogen flaring.
