A consortium of India’s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Russia’s TMH Group has bid the lowest to supply 120 of the 200 new version of Vande Bharat sleeper trains. At Rs 120 crore per train, the TMH-RVNL bid was significantly lower than that of competitors. The consortium hopes to sign an agreement with the Railways for supply of the Vande Bharat sleeper trains, a top official said. The trains will be manufactured at Railways facility in Latur, Maharashtra. A consortium of Titagarh Wagons and BHEL will supply the rest of 80 trains to Railways. The sleeper version of Vande Bharat will provide Railways an alternative to the current Rajdhanis.
