CHENNAI: A Chennai-Dubai IndiGo flight (6E 065) was delayed for more than six hours on Saturday after a man made a bomb threat call to the city police control room, allegedly to prevent his sister from travelling to Dubai. The man, who stays in Chennai’s Manali, has been arrested.
The call created a scare at the airport around 7am. However, it did not affect flight services.
The airlines were informed and the airport ground staff were also alerted. Airports Authority of India, airlines and emergency and security personnel coordinated to take precautionary measures.
Around 60 passengers had already boarded the plane on bay 13 when the call came. The boarding was stopped. The passengers were evacuated and moved to the terminal. The flight was scheduled to 7.30pm.
