NEW DELHI: Soon all expressways and national highways will have bigger and more visible signages at frequent intervals to guide commuters and ensure they don’t miss them while driving on these high-speed corridors. The road transport ministry has notified the guidelines on signages and directed highway-owning agencies for their implementation.
This is for the first time that the ministry has directed highway-owning agencies to install gantries mentioning lane speeds on expressways and NHs to inform commuters on the type of vehicle meant to ply on them. For example, the gantry on a three-lane carriageway of an expressway will mention 100 kmph for the extreme left lane, meant for trucks and other heavy vehicles,
