A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik to review the preparedness of the Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to provide regular and smooth power and water supply to the consumers during peak summer season.
PDD officers said this summer, 24 x7 power shall be supplied to Jammu city, Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban town areas while power cuts would not exceed one hour in urban areas of Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar districts.
PDD will minimise power cuts in rural areas as well, especially from 6 pm to 11 pm, when maximum power is required by the households. A roster will be formulated in this regard so as to impose power cuts in a staggered manner while ensuring that at least two-three hour power supply is assured to the consumers during the said period, when demand is at its peak.
