NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi hopes to put up electric vehicle charging stations every two kilometres in areas under its jurisdiction within two years.
With the central government’s push to have electric vehicle sales constituting 30% of private cars ales, 70% of commercial vehicles and 80% of two wheelers by 2030, a roadmap was presented at the meeting of the corporation held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Naresh Kumar on Tuesday.
MCD has so far permitted different PSUs and the power distribution companies to set up 549 e-vehicle charging stations. Of them, 91 stations have already been created and another 92 will come by the end of this year and will have 217 charging points and two battery swapping stations to allow people to interchange batteries if they are in a hurry.
