India has initiated the expansion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) retailing by offering licenses for seven regions, primarily in the North East and Jammu & Kashmir, in the latest round.
The move aims to increase the accessibility of natural gas across the country. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has made available eight geographical areas (GAs) as part of the 12th city gas distribution (CGD) bidding round, enabling the retailing of CNG for vehicles and the distribution of natural gas to households and industries.
