MUMBAI: In a bid to speed up Andheri’s Gokhale bridge work, the K-East ward office has sought an approval from the municipal commissioner to relocate 13 structures namely slums that are coming in the way of the reconstruction work. Among these 13 structures, four meet the eligibility criteria, while the remaining are ineligible. Nonetheless, these ineligible structures are also being considered for provision with alternative accommodation.
“Owing to the monsoon season, we cannot displace people as such. We will have to provide them with alternate accommodation,” said an official from K east ward office, adding that the structures were already partially demolished in the past.
