The 1600 MW Adani power plant coming up in Motia village, about 12 km from Godda town, is setting a new example of development in the entire Santhal Pargana region, i.e., Jharkhand. Godda, one of the backward districts in this region, was waiting for development for years after Jharkhand became a separate state. This coal-based state-of-the-art facility, being built on about 650 acres of land acquired by the government, is changing the landscape of the region.
The plant – with two units of 800 MW each including water pipeline and power evacuation systems – will cost about Rs 15,000 crore. It will supply power to Bangladesh, serving as a power connection between the two nations and creating a significant economic tie.
