GMR Infrastructure Ltd has outbid rivals including GVK and Doit Smart Infrastructure for the proposed Bhogapuram airport project. The bids were opened on Monday. GMR offered Rs. 303 per passenger, against Doit’s offer of Rs. 261 and GVK’s Rs. 207.
Ajay Jain, Andhra Pradesh’s Principal Secretary, Energy, Infrastructure & Investments, told BusinessLine : “GMR offered the highest amount as passenger fee to the government…This is as per the new norms the government has adopted to encourage private sector players to develop airport infrastructure, similar to what the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has adopted.”
The AP government had cancelled the earlier bid process to invite fresh bids under new terms, including the development of an MRO and training facilities. In the first bid process, AAI had been the winning bidder.
