Global players including Alstom NSE 1.22 %, Siemens NSE -0.22 %, Hitachi NSE -0.25 %, Stadler Rail, Wabtec and Arco have evinced interest in developing a new locomotive facility for the Indian Railways at an estimated investment of ₹20,000 crore in Dahod, Gujarat. Multiple overseas and local companies participated in the pre-bid consultations for the manufacture and supply of 1,200 electric locomotives of 9,000 horse power (HP) each, said officials.
