NEW DELHI: There was confusion and exasperation aplenty at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport early on Monday morning as hundreds of passengers were affected by technical glitches in the immigration system server. There were milling queues at the immigration counters for around an hour and a half, even as six international flights were hit.
According to an airport official, the immigration server started malfunctioning around 12.10am and the problem was finally resolved just before 2am. Of the six flights affected, one was delayed by 50 minutes, another by 25 minutes. Two flights were delayed by 17 minutes and a further two by 18 minutes, the official disclosed.
The delays, in turn, led to the rescheduling of around 137 flights due to long queues forming for immigration check. Both passengers and crew members had a harrowing time, with some travellers forced to stand in line for up to two hours before clearing immigration checks.
