Bengaluru: In an effort to improve waste management in districts apart from Bengaluru, the state government is likely to approve a proposal by GAIL Gas Limited (GGL), a central public sector undertaking, to set up Compressed BioGas (CBG) plants in 15 districts across the state. Many of these districts do not have a well-planned waste management system and this could prove to be a problem in the future, government sources said.
GAIL officials who met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar are said to have put forth the proposal and sought the government’s approval. According to sources, the government is also keen on approving these centres since many districts are slowly developing, and the quantity of waste produced is increasing drastically.
