VIJAYAWADA: After the Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the renewable power generators, who opposed the State government’s move to renegotiate wind and solar power purchase agreements (PPAs), to approach the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) to raise their concerns, a letter written by Union Power Minister RK Singh, last week, to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has emerged, in which the former disagreed with the latter’s argument that higher tariff of renewable power led to mounting liabilities of Discoms.
Requesting not to revisit the PPAs on the basis of ‘apprehensions of irregularities’, the Union minister observed that the tariff fixed in Andhra Pradesh was either lesser or on par with those in other States.
