After missing several deadlines, the Rambagh-Jahangir Chowk flyover is set to be completed next month. The 2.4-km flyover is expected to reduce traffic congestion in Srinagar city.
The flyover, which is being constructed from Jahangir Chowk to Rambagh, has turned into a joke as the administration has not been able to complete it so far. It has missed several deadlines, affecting the traffic badly in the summer capital. The work on the flyover had started in 2013 at a cost of Rs 369 crore.
“The work is going on smoothly and has picked up pace. The work on the stretch is expected to complete next month. The blacktopping will start from tomorrow. By the first or second week of May, it will be put to use,” said Raghav Langar, Chief Executing Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), which is the executing agency for the flyover.
