The Metro to the airport will be the fastest train in the city, when it shall open to public in 2026, with an estimated ridership of 3 lakh. The average speed of trains running between Yelahanka and the airport terminal will be 60 km ph, which is almost double the speed as compared to trains moving on other Metro corridors of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).
This is primarily due to the relatively straight alignment and long inter-station distances as per details in the executive summary of the detailed project report (DPR) of Namma Metro’s Phase II-B corridor from KR Puram to the Kempegowda International Airport.
