Fake railway ticket app latest worry before vacay season

KOLKATA: The cops have sounded a word of caution for those booking train tickets to get away from this searing heat. The cyber cell has warned against a fake app in the name of IRCTC that is being used by hackers to target gullible passengers.

IRCTC has already issued a public advisory, warning people not to download a suspicious Android application named ‘irctcconnect.apk’. The smishing website’s URL is https://irctc.creditmobile.site.

According to police and IRCTC officials, this app is being sent through popular social media platforms to thousands of netizens in the country.
