Exponent Energy completes 3000 Lithium-ion battery testing cycles with TUV India

Exponent Energy, an energy-tech startup that unlocked a 0 to 100 per cent charge in 15 minutes for EVs, has announced the completion of 3000 cycle testing in collaboration with renowned German testing agency, TUV India (TUV Nord Group, Germany).

The testing reports 13 per cent battery degradation even after 3,000 cycles of 15-minute rapid charging of Exponent’s proprietary battery pack – the e^pack. This works for the challenge associated with battery health degradation and rapid charging, the company said.

Li-ion cells experience a decline in health (charge capacity) as they undergo cycles of full charge and discharge (1 cycle = 1 full charge + 1 full discharge) and rapid charging exacerbates this issue. However, Exponent Energy’s proprietary energy stack, which enables a 15-minute full charge, has demonstrated exceptional performance in maintaining battery health of 87 per cent of its health in 3,000 cycles.

Arun Vinayak, CEO and co-founder, Exponent Energy, said, “Delivering 15-minute rapid charging whilst maintaining remarkable battery health is a game changing proposition. This achievement makes us the first player in the industry to witness only 13 per cent degradation over 3,000 testing cycles on LFP-based battery packs as compared to the industry average of 30 per cent degradation in 1500 cycles with slow charging. TUV India’s (TUV Nord Group, Germany) report will undoubtedly enhance trust in our technology with all key stakeholders in the EV ecosystem”

Manish Bhuptani, Managing Director, TUV India (TUV NORD Group, said, “I congratulate Arun Vinayak, CEO of Exponent for successfully testing their Lithium-ion battery and achieving good performance of the battery system.”

In collaboration with Alt Mobility, Exponent earlier this year unlocked 5-year financing with 30 per cent cheaper EMIs. In addition to successfully completing 3000 cycle testing, Exponent hopes to sign up a large number of financing partners to guarantee that EVs powered by Exponent remain the most cutting-edge and reasonably priced EVs available for purchase.
