NEW DELHI: The national capital saw a 20% surge in the sale of e-vehicles during the first six months of the current fiscal in comparison to the corresponding period of FY 2022-23, according to transport department data.
The data also revealed that while the popularity of battery-run vehicles is up, people are slowly losing interest in diesel vehicles, with their sales down by over 24% between April and September this year vis-à-vis the same months in the last fiscal. According to the data, 3,06,135 new sets of wheels – cars, bikes and scooters as well as passenger and cargo vehicles – were registered in the capital from April 1 till September 30 this year against 2,94,305 in the corresponding period last year. At 4%, the growth in sales was low.
