NEW DELHI: Registration of electric vehicles in India increased 209% in 2022 over the previous calendar year and their total number touched 28.3 lakh till the first week of this month.
The government data show that in the past seven-and-a-half months of the current calendar year, 8.5 lakh EVs have been registered in states and Union Territories.
The data provided to the Lok Sabha this week shows that in 2022, nearly 10.2 lakh new EVs were registered across the country compared to 3.3 lakh in the previous year. Details of vehicle registration show that Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of EVs at 5.7 lakh,
