BENGALURU: The Congress government has ironed out power-billing wrinkles by asking electricity supply companies (Escoms), which had charged consumers for electricity usage in July contrary to the Gruha Lakshmi mandate of free power up to 200 units a month, to refund the amount imposed on such beneficiaries, reports Pavan Kumar Pateel.
Rolling out the scheme, the government had announced free power up to 200 units for consumption from July 1. However, Escoms had, while generating bills after July 1, charged several consumers for the power they had consumed during the initial days of the month (July 1 to 15, in most cases) citing billing cycles.
