Envision receives 653.4 MW wind energy order from JSW Energy

Renewable energy solutions provider Envision Energy has been awarded a contract by JSW Energy to develop a wind energy park with a capacity of 653.4 MW in Karnataka and Maharashtra. The agreement mandates Envision to supply 198 EN 156-3.3 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for the project.

Upon completion, expected by the end of 2024, the wind energy park is projected to produce 2200 GWh of clean energy. This contribution will play a significant role in advancing India’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions.

The partnership with JSW Energy is expected to enhance renewable energy capacity in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Envision’s WTGs, previously employed in global markets such as China and Vietnam, are designed to optimize the Indian wind regime. Each unit has a rotor diameter of 156 m, a hub height of 140 m, and a rated capacity of 3.3 MW. Envision has invested around Rs. 500 crores in the Indian market, creating over 2,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

RPV Prasad, CEO of Envision Wind Power Technologies India, emphasized the company’s commitment to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Components for the wind turbines, such as the nacelle and hubs, will be assembled at Envision’s Pune factory, while the blades will come from their Trichy facility. Tower components are set to be sourced from manufacturers in Maharashtra.

Kane Xu, Global Vice President of Envision Energy and Chairman of Envision Energy India, underlined the importance of collaboration for a swift transition to green energy, highlighting the urgency to address climate change. Xu recognized the partnership as a significant step towards fostering a sustainable future in India.

To date, Envision has commissioned 330MW of wind projects in India and holds contracts for over 4.7GW of additional projects. The company has ramped up its manufacturing capacity, with an annual output of 3GW for Nacelle & Hub in Pune and 2.5GW for blades at its Trichy plant. Operating across six states in India, Envision serves 12 clients and oversees operations at over 20 project sites, with an order book close to 5GW.
