After pilots and ground staff, now engineers of Jet Airways have written a letter to authorities flagging irregularities in salary and safety of the aircraft. According to a letter written to Directorate General of Civil Association, (DGCA) the civil aviation watchdog, Jet Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Welfare Association (JAMWA), the engineers have been facing issues of non-payment of salaries for the past seven months and three months of salaries is overdue.
The letter written by JAMWA, reviewed by BusinessLine stated that the engineers had several meetings with the senior management of the airline and after numerous requests, the airline had given a schedule of payment in December 2018, which would clear dues in full, by the end of the financial year. However, their confidence in the management is now shaken and thus, requested the authorities to intervene.
