MUMBAI: A team of engineers and technicians worked on a challenging task of repairing an electric cable several metres under the Arabian sea to restore complete power supply to the Gharapuri island (Elephanta island) on Thursday.
It took some days to go underwater and check the cable minutely to finally detect the fault. “It took nearly a month for the entire team of MSEDCL to repair and rectify the cable fault,” said a senior official.
Power cuts around a month back hit three villages on the island. “Huge cables were brought on boats,” an official said.
