KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned eight senior IPS officers from Bengal to Delhi between August 21 and 31 in connection with the coal smuggling case.
They are ADG (IB) Rajeev Mishra, ADG (STF) Gyanwant Singh, DIG (Civil Defence) Shyam Singh, SP (WBPRB) Tathagata Basu, DIG (Traffic) Sukesh Jain, SP (Anti-Crime Branch) Koteshwar Rai, SP (Purulia) Selva Murugan and SP (Sunderban Police district) Bhaskar Mukherjee. All these officers were earlier posted in the area where the illegal coal mining and smuggling allegedly took place.
Late night agency reports sug- gested that a few senior IAS officers, too, would be summoned for questioning but there was no confirmation from either ED officials or the Bengal government.
