The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has commissioned the Doppler Very High Frequency Omni Directional Range (DVOR) at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport here on Monday.
The DVOR is a standard International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) ground-based navigational aid that provides information to define air traffic control routes for en-route, terminal and instrument approach/departure procedures.
Inaugurating the state-of-the-art infrastructure, AAI Executive Director (ER) SP Yadav said the minimum visibility criteria which used to be 5 km shall be reduced to 2.3 km after the implementation of AIP supplements and updation in FMS of aircraft by September 12. Thus it would provide a major relief to passengers facing bad weather en-route.
