Bengaluru: Farmers set to lose their lands to the proposed Perpheral Ring Road (PRR) on Monday urged deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar to drop the project. The latter, however, asserted that it would be implemented at any cost and assured the farmers the government would protect their interests by providing them alternative land or more compensation.
Participating in an interaction with the farmers in relation to the proposed land acquisition, Shivakumar explained that the project, seeking to develop an eight-lane PRR connecting Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road and form a closed ring with the existing NICE Road, would cost Rs 25,000 crore.
