NEW DELHI: Two IndiGo Airbus A321s suffered similar technical glitches on Tuesday, with one of the snag-prone Pratt & Whitney (PW) engines on both the planes shutting down midflight.
Both planes landed safely.
While one plane landed at the intended destination, the other had to return to the origin.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it is doing a “technical evaluation” of both the cases.
Airbus A321neo (VT-IUF) was operating as 6E-455 from Kolkata to Bengaluru when engine number two suffered snags and was shut down. Since twin engine planes can land safely on one engine, the aircraft returned to Kolkata.
