NEW DELHI : Indian carriers reported a 25% sequential growth in domestic passenger traffic in August, though it plunged 77% from the year-ago period because of covid-19 disruptions, rating agency Icra said in a report on Monday.
Passenger load factor (PLF), or the number of seats filled in an aircraft, improved to about 63% in August for domestic airlines, from about 55% in July despite an increase in capacity deployment by 19%, said Kinjal Shah, vice president, Icra. The airlines had a PLF of 85.1% in August last year, Icra said. More than 7 million people have flown on domestic flights between 25 May and 31 August, Shah said.
“The number of flights departing has gradually increased from 416 on day 1 to 1,156 on day 101 (2 September.
