Total outstanding dues owed by electricity distribution companies (discoms) to power producers dipped 5.1 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,15,972 crore in February 2022, as per latest data. Discoms owed a total of Rs 1,22,226 crore to power generation firms in February 2021, according to portal PRAAPTI (Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators).
On a sequential basis also, total dues in February 2022 declined from Rs 1,16,834 crore in January 2022.
