The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday ordered an investigation after an Air Arabia flight, travelling from Chittagong in Bangladesh to Abu Dhabi in the UAE, on Monday made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport after the pilot declared ‘Mayday’, suffering an engine failure.
According to a DGCA statement, the Air Arabia flight 3L-062, operating on Airbus A320, experienced No.1 Engine stall on Monday and subsequently, the engine fail ECAM warnings came on as a result of which the crew declared “mayday” and immediately diverted to Ahmedabad. The aircraft landed safely at Ahmedabad, the DGCA said.
The crew carried out ECAM actions.”ENG1 was shut down. Crew declared MAY day and diverted to Ahmedabad,” the statement read.
