MUMBAI: To check over logging and other malpractices at pilot training schools, the Indian civil aviation regulator on Tuesday mandated that high resolution cameras that cover runway, taxiway, apron area, hangars, class rooms, examination rooms etc should be installed in the premises within three months.
“Student pilot license and radio telephone operator exams shall be carried out under camera with live feed to the directorate of flying training of DGCA, which shall be intimated three days prior,” said the circular titled `Monitoring of training in Flying Training Organization (FTO)’.
Some aircraft operated by FTOs are equipped with glass cockpit that have a provision for recording flight data, and are equipped with satellite navigation gadgets that monitor flight path. FTOs operating such aircraft shall monitor, analyze and maintain the data from Tuesday onwards, it said. “
