NEW DELHI: This monsoon, Delhi saw a record jump in peak power demand that tapered off by last month, which saw record rainfall.
Between July and September 2021, the national capital’s peak power demand was 53% higher than the demand on corresponding days of 2020, and 34% higher than the corresponding days of 2019.
The year 2020 had seen a dip in peak power demand in Delhi after the Covid-19 outbreak due to the national lockdown but according to sources, the city has seen peak power demand in 2021 increasingly inch past the peak power demand of not only of 2020, but also that of corresponding days of 2019.
